3rd Annual Tejano Jam At The
Square in Alice Tx
Review
Greetings Amigos Tejanos Y Sympaticas Tejanas
Once again the main Man from San Diego Tejas, Mr. Javier
Villanueva the C.E.O. OF TEJANO ROOTS (H.O.F.M.) attracted
approximately eight hundred Tejanos and Tejanas on Saturday night and
another great crowd on Sunday night to the city of Alice Texas for the
third Annual Tejano Jam in the square. Tejanos and Tejanas came from
far and near to enjoy their special Tejano music extravaganza.
Congratulations to Mr. Villanueva and the board of
directors, such as Mr. Albert Martinez, Tommy Velázquez (Tonka) and his
wife, Juan Cifuentes Jr. and his son, Armando Hinojosa Jr. and others,
who helped make this another wonderful and successful Tejano Music
event.
Others who came from as far as Arizona to support Tejano
Music were Tejano Mike of
www.Tejanomike.com. The Tejano music line up, which included Joe
Revelez and the Dudes, Jimmy Gonzales y Mazz, Chente Barrera y Taconazo,
Joe Posada and son and many others were simply sensational. The sound
system, Moon Light Productions of Mr. Claudio Solis and Sons was
terrific. It was engineered and managed very professionally.
The food and beverages were great. Most everyone in
attendance was seen enjoying a Beef or chicken Fajita taco, Corn on the
cob or other goodies. The arts and crafts and other vendors were kept
busy by bargain hunters, who were looking for those special souvenirs.
In short those two fabulous nights will not be forgotten soon.
Tejano Pride U.S.A., thanks Mr. Javier Villanueva for
the privilege and opportunity to participate in this year's Tejano Jam
special event. Mr. Rudy 'Tejano' Pena, proudly displayed his numerous
Tejano Pride educational banners, historical Tejano portraits and
poster size Tejano and Tejana cultural compositions. I would like to
thank all those Tejanos and Tejanas, who came by and expressed
appreciation for all my Tejano culture teaching efforts.
Among some non-Tejanos, I had the pleasure of meeting
the owner of "EL MEJICANO RESTAURANT" from Freer Texas. During our
friendly visit we discussed the difference between Tejanos and
Mejicanos. He became very impressed with one of my posters and told me
he wanted to exhibit it in his restaurant. The nice man made a humble
contribution for it and as a gift, I gave him my pride and joy Tejano
Pride composition poster.
Members of the Dudes and Joe Posada group came by and I
gave each a 'KEEPING THE TEJANO CULTURE ALIVE' T-shirt. The one
artists, that totally impressed me was Chente Barrera. While he was on
stage he expressed his pride for being totally Tejano. Chente
repeatedly acknowledged all the Tejanos and Tejanas, who were enjoying
his performance. He made my day, night, week and month, when during the
performance of the song 'El Soldado Razo' he belted out the phrase "
Aqui va otro TEJANO que sabe morrie por su tierra" boy, when, I heard
that, I could not shout Yea! loud enough.
Special
thanks are in order for Mr. Oscar 'Bullet' Villa and Joe Lozano for
doing such a fine job of introducing the bands.
To those of you, who were in attendance thank you for
joining us and for those, who missed it start making plans for next
year cause it promises to be even better.
Till then this is Mr. Rudy 'Tejano' Pena signing off.
