AARP Gala Music Extravaganza
at the American Bank Center, in Corpus Christi Spear  heading the event the one and only, a legend in his own Time El Grand Idolo de la Comunidad Tejana Carlos Guzmán. Had the pleasure of meeting Carlos and his lovely wife the day before the event.
The other legends Augustin Ramirez, Sunny Ozuna and Freddie Martinez put on a great show. Avizo Band out of Houston Texas stole the show.. a power house indeed. There were many other leaders of Tejano music such as Mr. David Chavez and his lovely wife organizers of the Tejano Music Vegas events, Ricardo Hernández and his lovely wife of Aurmarc Management, Joe Revélez and many more distinguished Tejano personalities.

Thank you very much to all of them for helping in the preservation our beloved Tejano music.

VIVA LA INDEPENDENCIA!

I invite Tejanos and Tejanas in Texas and all over the world, as well as others with Spanish sur-names or Spanish and Indigenous mix living in other southwestern states, that were successful in the final struggle of Independence from Spain in 1821 to join in the 184 anniversary celebration.  On the 15th of September 1810 Miguel Hidalgo y Costia rang the bell at Dolores Hidalgo declaring "Viva La Independencia" from Spain.  It was not until 1821 that Spain conceded and La Nueva Espana became independent.  Finally in 1824 the Republic of Mexico was established and included Tejas and all the territory later lost by Mexico to the United States after the Mexican/United States war in 1848.

I am not sure how many others before me have expressed the view, that all United States citizens with the above ancestry now living in the above mentioned territories should learn and celebrate this other part of  their proud ancestral heritage.

On the 15th of September let us all join in on the celebration and proudly exclaim and proclaim  " VIVA LA INDEPENDENCIA"  ("LONG LIVE INDEPENDENCE") from Spain.

Mr. Rudy Tejano' Peña, VIVA TEJAS ...VIVAN LOS TEJANOS Y TEJANAS!
